For this week, you’ll focus on a very challenging article, Lerat et al. PLOS 2005 Lerat et al PLOS 2005, and this will be the subject of your weekly blog. (I encourage you to write on the other articles as well).

As preparation for this article, you will also read a very good review by Gogarten and Townsend on HGTGogarten and Townsend HGT population genetics. You should also read the first Lerat et al. PLOS 2003 articleLerat et al PLOS 2003, but only for the barebones. Finally, if you’d like to brush up on your microbial genetics, the Thomas and Nielsen Nat. Rev. Genet. article on HGT mechanisms HGT mechanisms review will be helpful.

All of these are attached here, and since this blog requires a subscription, we should be in good shape. I’ll begin to move the rest of the articles to this site.
